Pregnancy is an exciting time, and breeders do a lot behind the scenes to make sure mom and her puppies stay healthy. Many choose to confirm pregnancy with an ultrasound, get an estimated due date, and check on how the puppies are developing. These visits help catch any potential issues early and give everyone the best chance for a smooth delivery.

Most births go smoothly… but not always. A breeder must be ready for a middle‑of‑the‑night dash to the vet for a c‑section, which costs thousands. It can be stressful, unpredictable and part of the responsibility of doing things the right way.

When the big day comes and you get your new puppy, you’ll have a healthy puppy, bred for temperament, personality as well as conformity to the breed. You’ll get a supply of food they’re used to, an agreement both of you will sign, their paperwork for AKC registration, microschip information, vaccinations and your breeder’s number to call with any questions you may have.
